Hi all, i had my interview at federal plaza this morning. I would like to share it with you. My appointment is scheduled for 10:20 i arrived there around 10. The lounge was full of people and i was instructed by the security to present my IL to window 52. After that i waited for my name to be called. An hour and a half passed and my name hasn't been called. I didn't worry but noticed that people who arrived before me were called before and finished before my name was called. Apparently there were a lot of IOs because names were called at the rate of at least 2 names per minute. Anyway, finally my name was called to door#1. A lady has greeted and led me around a lot of cubicles which looked liked a maze. The usual was sworn in to tell the truth and asked for GC, DL, and passport. She went through the whole application. I had a job and school update and coorections which were no problem. Brought a list of all my trips (last 10 years) since i just listed only last 5 years. She just asked if i have divorce certificate and thats about it regarding divorce. Finally she made me sign and print my name and write my name on pictures. She had a kind of eraser that is specially made to make writing possible on glossy picture. Then she went to the civic and history questions. all 10 correct:
1. Who's the father of our country?
2. What are the colors of the flag?
3. How many branches of US goverment are there?
4. What is the most important right of US citizenship?
5. When the declaration of independance was written?
The others i dont remeber. I was asked to write"children go to school" and read "i know how to speak English" Then she congratulated me and said that i passed and to wait for my oath letter at window#48. After waiting for almost two hours i received oath letter for an oath ceremony on Friday 5/11 11 am in federal plaza auditorium. Phew finished the main hurdle of citizenship and now ready for oath which was surprisingly fast. On Froday afternoon i will go and apply for a US passport and be finally a proud and loving son of this country after so many years. For years i feel an american in soul but now (after 32 days) i can say i am an american. I hope that would anybody who is having their inter view here in NYC

Congratulations

Hi,

Congratulations to you on clearing the test. Can you pl post your timeline.

also did they ask you anything about
1. how many months u been with employer after GC
2. Traffic tickets(if you had any)

Thanks

Thanks. I got it through marriage and they didn't ask anything about how long i've stayed with her. All she asked about divorce is divorce certificate. She didn't ask about traffic tickets just if you've ever committed an offense.

2/11/2007 PD
3/07/2007 FP
3/21/2007 IL received
5/08/2007 interview passed :D
5/11/2007 oath federal plaza

Congratulations!! I know you were quite anxious (but yet confident) about the interview, glad to see that it all worked out. Big relief I am sure.

The reason she asked about the divorce certificate is that if one is divorced then the USCIS application instructions require the applicant to send the divorce certificate along with the application form. So they must have put a flag there for the interviewer to specifically check for it.
