Interview Descheduled by USCIS ... after the Interview!!!

Now this situation is really weird...

My mom had her interview scheduled in Dallas on Jan 5, 2007. Interview went well and after the interview she asked for an appointment for oath ceremony from the IO. The IO scheduled her for the oath ceremony on Feb 1, 2007. So far so good.

Today, she received a letter from USCIS (I-797C, Notice of Action), titled "Interview Descheduled by USCIS". Notice Date is Jan 22, 2007. Text of the letter states:

"This is to advise you that, due to unforseen circumstances, we have had to cancel the previously scheduled interview on Friday, January 05, 2007 at 12:40 PM for the above applicant. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.

We will advise you of an further action taken on this case, including any rescheduled interview information, under separate notice."

Now this is really weird since the letter was sent on Jan 24th, 2007. It seems to me that their computer system has sent this letter in error since any human being won't knowingly make such a mistake. Just want to know if anyone else have experienced similar errors.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Weird, isn't it? I guess you can take the InfoPass route to find more about that situation. Has your mother received her oath letter? Could it be that they intended to send you an oath letter, but someone made an error and sent you a descheduled notice instead? I wouldn't be surprised if that had happened. I don't know how their applications work, but it is possible that at some point there is a drop down menu of actions, and they might have chosen the wrong one by mistake. Pure speculation, specially if your mother already has her oath letter.

My 2 cents.

She received her oath letter right after the interview when she asked the immigration officer if she can get a date for the oath ceremony right then and there. So, like I said, the IO printed an oath letter for Feb 1, 2007 for her.

If your mom already has an oath letter...then why is this deschedule letter an issue???

Just go to the oath ceremony on Feb 1st and enjoy it.

I would just ignore the letter go to Oath with the Oath letter. If other action could possbly delay the process.

Sounds good. I appreciate everyone who replied.

I am not gonna bother calling the USCIS number and stay on hold for 1 hour just to find out that someone messed up something.

I just wanted to hear from others if they have experienced such blunders.

THanks again.

Yeah, if she has an oath letter, just have her show up.

Thanks for sharing this - I get a kick out of seeing the USCIS's processes in action. I'm really looking forward to getting my child's N-600 processing out of the way; I'll never need to deal with these idiots again.
