Dear All,

I gave fingerprints on 9th Sept, then came to INdia to learn few courses, which will end in Jan'06.

USCIS sent a letter to come for 1st Interview this Nov' 2005.

Can you please suggest if it is OK to ask for extension, is it good to give the same reason for extension?

Any idea of any backlashes after applying for extension of date?

I would really appreciate few suggestions before I apply for extension, this is crusial and helps me and my family in our career planning.

Many thanks and make it a great day.

There is nothing negative to be taken from requesting a rescheduling of interview except for the indetermined amount of delay it wil cause your application before it reaches conclusion.

I am in the same situation and had posted my case last week.. the 2 options I can see are,

1. Request re-scheduling by a month. This will definately cause a delay and I am not sure the exact way to do this and get confirmation that it is re-scheduled and the officer does not mark it as cancellation due to the candidate not showing up! Is there a form for this?????

2. Fly in for 4-5 days, do the interview and when asked if why you came in 2 days before the interview, show them the proof that I was away for a valid reason (in my case sickness of a family) and take an urgent appointment with the Regional passport office for same day passport and travel back 2 India the next day!

Rahul, others any feedback?

interview change

Why should the USCIS "cancel" the application. If the documnets are sent by certified mail with receipt, there is adequate proof that you have requested a change and that it is not a "no show/ abandoned application".
Secondly, doesn't the interview letter have a portion on it allowing for a change in date ( just like changing a FP appointment??).

Here is the problem, I am away from the US since July 21st as I mentioned in my post. I plan to return back by December 11th (145 days out of the country). [[[[[I hope USCIS does not give me a hard time for this as I am away to attend to bad health of my grandmother ]]]]]
My mails are recieved by my firend in NY. He recieved it in first week of september and was away for 3 weeks and I only found out last week that the date is November 8th. Only when I read on the posts that there is a rescheduling section on the notice did my grey cells register that it can be changed using that form.

I will action it by friday pending some findings. If the VSC can use the 1 month to act on it and register in their system for rescheduling that will be great. I can probably also call the 800 number for VSC and confirm that they have recieved it? Can anybody confirm this?

All inputs are greatly appreciated.

TIA - futcitizen.
