Folks,

I got my GC on 10/8/2009. Does that mean I'm only eligible for the oath by 10/8/09? My interview is on 10/5, which means I will be a few days away from my 5 years mark.

Any thoughts on what I should do?

Thanks!

be happy

Congratulations on flying though your naturalization process so quickly!

Chances are you will not be sworn in on the day of your interview.. so what?

You will likely attend a swearing-in ceremony later in the month..

I take it you mean 10/8/2004?

If they have same-day or next-day oath in your location, and the officer makes the mistake of trying to put you in an oath before Oct. 8, point out to them that you will not complete 5 years until the 8th, so you want an oath on or after the 8th. If you go ahead and take the oath too early, your citizenship can be revoked if USCIS catches the mistake later (although in practice, the chances of them actually doing that is very small).

My suggestion is, bring it to the notice of the IO during interview and have the oath scheduled after the 5 year anniversary

Yes 10/8/04. I thought about not bringing it up but am concerned about USCIS revoking it later. Thanks!
