interview at the local chicago INS office

hello folks, I 485 filed at NSC
My RD is Nov01/2001
Rfe received on March 2003
Case transferred to chicagolocal office on April 2003
2nd FP 0n Aug 2003.
Had interview t local chicago office on Jan 5 2004
Case not approved because the officer said background check was not completed and he doesn't know how long it would take to get approved.So please advise on this issue.

I hate to tell you that..............

I have been waiting for the adjudication of my case since January 2003 when I had my Interview at Chicago Local Office. However, there are are many lucky ones who got their approval within 1 to 4 months. Hope you don't have to wait as me and some other folks whose cases seem to have been lost in the blackhole of so called "Background Check".
