my long journey is over now. These are my dates:

4/5/2005 PD (sent my application via USPS express mail the day before)

2 months later I was fingerprinted (not sure of the exact date).

2/8/2006 I passed the interview. No documentation other than my greencard and passport was required. Officer went through all the questions on the n-400 file and stamps in my passport to verify travel dates. I had 4 speeding tickets in the last 10 years and the officer jokingly asked why so many tickets. I said that I was just not careful enough. The officer was satisfied with my answer and did not ask to see proof of payments or anyting else related to these tickets. Also no questions were asked about my employment (employer based GC and left the employer after 6 months).

2/15/2006 I went to the oath ceremony. I think some ppl who were interviewed that morning also came to this oath. I was interviewed in the afternoon but I think if you're interviewed early morning you have a good chance of getting a same day oath.

I applied for my US passport (regular mail I am in no hurry and didn't want to pay the extra fees) on 2/17/2006.

The entire journey took about 10 months and was not too bad.
