I met a great guy online in March; in May we decided to take a chance and start a relationship. We decided to use this time as a sort of courtship with the intention of marriage in a year or so. We planned for him to come in December and work on the fiancé visa to get him here permanently and legally.
After he spoke with the consulate it was his understanding that it would be better to do the fiancé visa now. The problem with this is that neither of us has the funds (or access to any) to pay the filing fee ($455) now. I had planned to use a part of my Christmas bonus to pay it in December.
We've been trying to figure out a way to get this kind of money together on top of his airfare and money to live off of for a few months. Nothing we've been able to come up with will raise enough money to cover what we need. I would like to speak with an immigration attorney but don't know where I could find one that would be pro bono.
Does anyone have any ideas how we can get the money together or know of an immigration attorney I can speak with pro bono?
