Interim EAD

My EAD application was submitted on Nov 20, 2002. Now I still didn't get the approval. I called the lawyer to ask if I could go to INS for interim EAD, the lawyer told me now my local INS office (Hartford, CT) doesn't allow interim EAD. I was kind of shocked by this. Does anybody have the same experience?

Thanks for the reply, I read your thread. So it seems no EAD at Local INS Office any more
