Interim EAD

Hi,

Thank you all for taking the time to read my post and many many thanks to those who reply with their best answer to the best of their knowledge for my question/doubts.

I sent my whole package(130,485,765) on Dec-5th and the receipt date was Dec-12th.
I had my 485 interview on feb-3rd and fingerprinting ( code-3) on feb-21st.

I did not yet receive any kind of information regarding my EAD. I was wondering if I can go to the local district office this monday the 13th of March and get an interim EAD.

From all your experiences and knowledge through the forum posts is it fine if I go and try to get an Interim EAD. What are all the paper work that I need to take with me. If anyone has prior experiences how long will it take.
I tried to see if I can find any previous posts and I did not find any. May be I was looking in the wrong place.

I had already made a infopass appointment for the 13th.

All your answers are greatly appreciated and have a wonderful week end.

You are saying you had your interview on Feb-3rd. What happened at the interview? Are going through DORA program?

No, I am not going thru the DORA program. At the interview, they had asked me to submit my masters diploma, and few other additional evidence which I hand delivered the following day. Actually I had my interview with in 60 days of submitting my application and at the time of the interview I did not have any biometrics done and they gave me an appointment for biometrics for the 21st of feb. I haven't heard from them since then. I am just waiting and I want to get the EAD so that I can start working.

Thanks and Good Day,

they usually make you wait 90 days before you can walk in and get an interim EAD. Monday the 13th will only be 91 days for you - so schedule an INFOpass appointment online to walk into your local office. It's very easy. You may have to wait online for a while, but you'll get it.

Hi Nora&Simon,

I agree with you, but receipt date was Dec-12th 2005 and I am going on March-13th 2006. I have counted the number of days and its actually 90 days if you do not consider Dec-12th and its 91 days if I consider even Dec-12th. I did not get how you got 81 days. Please clarify so that we are on the same page.

Thanks and Good Day,

What type of interview was that you need to send a diploma? are you family based?

Anyway, you can try to go to your DO and see what happens. You must go with your receipts of course and ID.

Good luck,

Hi Cherr1980,

It was the interview for my 485 and its family based 485 interview(married to a USC). I was planning on taking all the copies of the documents that I originally submitted.
Thanks for your reply.
Good Day,

And they asked you about your master's diploma? waow is the first time ever I heard such a thing...weird, plus that documentation is not at all part of the supportive documents for family based I can tell you UNLESS you were here on student visa as proof that you really was going to school?

Anyway good luck,

Yeah, I was on a student visa and as you said it is no where in the documentation where it tells you that if an individual was on student visa, he needs to get all the documents related to his student status. I was ignorant of that and did not take my admission form (I-20) and my diploma. I am just hoping they will give me a interim EAD this monday. Thanks again and have a good one.

Here is my experience going to the local district office for an Interim EAD.
My local district office is San Diego.

My appointment was at 10:35 and so I made sure that I was there on time and I went inside. I stood in line and when my turn came I explained to officer that I am here to see if I can get a interim EAD. The officer looked at my notice receipts and gave me a token and and with in no time my token was called out loud. I went to the counter where my token was called and there sitting was a very nice lady with a big smile on her face. She was very polite and very courteous. Above all she was very informative. I have to tell you guys that I tried to find my case status online and from day 1 to date there has been no change or no updates. Just tells me when it was received and when the notice receipts were sent and the time frame. I tried to call the 1-800 number and for some reason I never got any case updates that I was looking for. All the CSR(customer service representative) on phone told me that I will notified through mail. I guess I called them like 3-4 times and I never got any updates.

Yesterday when I was talking to this nice lady, she saw all my papers and she told me that my I-765 was approved in december and they are waiting for my finger prints. I told her that I never got any appointment letter for my finger prints and then I showed her my finger prints appointment letter which I had gotten for 485 and asked her if they could use them. She told typically I have to setup an other appointment for fingerprints and then she told however she can email the chicago office and ask them if they can capture my finger prints from 485 and use them for 765 and she did send an email right in front of me and she even took my phone number and told me that if there is any problem she would call. I asked her if my finger print results were fine and she told that both my finger prints and name check results were clear. I was so afraid after reading so many posts on this forum that people were stuck with their name check for years and If I would be one of them. At last she told me that I should get my EAD in 7-10 business days and if I dont receive by then, she gave me the email address for my DO and told to email. I asked her how soon they would get back with a reply and she told usually within 24 hrs. She also told me that my 485 file is with an officer and I should be getting the approval of my 485 too pretty soon.

Sorry for the long reply but I thought I would share this info.
Thanks you guys for all the posts on this forum which I think are more informative than anything else.

Good Day,
goody.
