interim EAD less than 90 days??

Does anyone try to get interim EAD before 90 days since receipt date? Especially in Detroit? I filed mine (3rd EAD) too late (I know there's no excuse for that, whatever reason it is), with current one expiring next month. Your experience and suggestions would be very helpful.

My wife did that in Chicago. She got a letter from her eployer that she will be terminated if not on EAD. Terminated is the secret word.
