iEAD in Philly
Today I received my iEAD at the local BCIS office in Philadelphia 90 days after I had submitted my I-765 to the California Service Center.
The process actually started on 7/24. I went first to the local office around 7:30AM (no need to go very early) and some 25 people were already waiting on the line. People started to be admitted in the building by the same time I got there. I entered the building around 8:00 o’clock or so.
Another line inside to talk to the sorting officer. It took some 20 minutes to get through the line. Presented the documents (new I-765, copies of the pending I-765, I-140 approval notice, I-485 receipt notice, among other). The officer requested the original for the pending I-765 (wac-03-153-xxxx). At that point I presented all the originals for the three documents. She inspected them and gave me a number to talk to the examiner officer.
After 30 minutes my number was shown on the display. I presented all the documents to the officer. He examined them, checked the case in the computer, and went to the back to talk to his supervisor. After some 10 minutes he came back I ask me to take a seat again to wait for his supervisor to look at the case. After some 15 minutes my name was called and he gave me an appointment letter (yellow sheet) to be back on July 31 between 8:30 and 11:00AM. I was out of there around 9:30AM.
Today I went back around 7:40AM and went to the line for appointments only. Some 12 people ahead of me but some few more could have entered the building already. Admitted around 8:15AM and proceeded to room 300 (third floor). Gave the appointment letter to at window reception and was asked to take a seat and wait. Waited till 9:45AM to be called by the employee responsible for the picture/finger-print (after 12 people or so). He asked us to go back to the waiting room until the cards were processed. By 10:00AM I was all done.
I am glad that I am done with that, principally after knowing that there is a RFE for my pending EAD (from 07/29). I was lucky this time. So, if you need an iEAD, get it asap.
