INTERIM EAD Delays

The feeling I am getting, we are not going to settle. The battle moves on. The govt. has indicated they want to ask for 30 days to answer the class action. I have told them I oppose it.

I have also asked them to straighten out the problem of interim EAD's or we will file another motion in court for interim relief. Why should I have to wait after 90 days of EAD application pendency. Suboffices like Arlington are giving appointments after several weeks. What is the use of the interim EAD then?

Stand ready. I might need affidavits from people who have suffered from delays in interim EAD issuance. In the meantime, if you can start a spreadsheet of delays in suboffices, that would help us.

Rajiv need the details of EAD delays at local office, so please post your experience regarding the same at local CIS office.

3rd EAD RD:12/5/03
current one expires: 3/30/04
visited Arlington CIS office after 90 days, and got appointment on 4/21

I have to be jobless between 3/31/04 - 4/21/04??

cmyk55,
You kind of cases are glaring.
I think you are not limited to which local center you have to go for iEAD. So if you can get an earlier appointment to another center you may try.
Good Luck

Waiting

I am waiting too.

What about Interim AP? It is the same situation. Unless there is a death, most local centers don't consider it an emergency. There are lot of other important issues that would require that we travel.

I thought iEAD was on a walk-in basis. I didn't know they give appointments for iEAD.

I tried to apply for an iEAD at Albany, NY after 90 days, but when I got to the counter the lady checked my zipcode and said that she does not have jurisdiction to issue me an iEAD and I would have to go to NYC. I ended up going to NYC on a later date and was able to get my iEAD the same day. I heard that the NYC office only accepts only a limited number (100?) of iEAD applicants per day, so if you don't make it within this number you need to come back the next day ...

Looks like we need to get the courts to intervene on this sorry state of affairs. My wifes ead expires in April and we had applied in Jan. With that her DL also expires and I will have to find alternate means of transportation for my son.
This whole thing sucks.
