Interim EAD card- Is it compulsory to get interim EAD card?

I\'m new to this 485 forum. I\'ve couple of questions.
i)Is it compulsory to have interim EAD cards(both you & your spouse) if you don\'t get within 90days from RD?
ii)Do we need to change the spouse Social from non-authorized to authorize to work category once you get her EAD card?
How these things taken care of.

NO and YES

1. NO, you don\'t need to get the interim card. you can wait for the "real" EAD.
2. YES, you need a new SSN card. The number will be the same. To change your social insurance card you go to the local Social Security Office and show the EAD card and ask for a new SSN card. It will arrive in a couple of weeks. You should also ask the office to give you a letter to show to the employer, in case your wife gets a job before receiving the new SSN card.
