Interim EAD at Newark INS..

I believe your request for an interim EAD is because you applied for an EAD earlier and did not receive one. I do not know the process in Newark INS, but I do know that my case is similar to yours and I was told both by my employer\'s legal department and their lawyers that I DO NOT need an interim or another EAD
I applied for an EAD renewal to INS VSC in end-September 2000. I still have not received the card. Per the IIO at INS VSC, they have made out the card and need to capture my signature and photograph onto the card and mail it out to me. They said this process can take another 3-4 weeks (go figure!!). My current EAD expires 1/26/01 (yes, about 2 days from today). When I went to the local (Boston) INS office to apply for a new one or to get an interim one, they refused to accept my application and said that since the card had already been made out by INS VSC, there is nothing I can do but to wait.
IN the meantime, my employer\'s legal department and their lawyers called me to explain that I can continue to work and am not out of status in any way. I also did not need an interim EAD card and can safely wait till the EAD card sent by INS VSC arrives.
