<<<<< Interim EAD at Baltimore - PLEASE HELP>>>>>

Hi all,

I applied online for EAD renewal and after 90 days went to the local office at Baltimore for getting Interim EAD(My I-485 is pending at Baltimore after the interview). They asked me to fill up the applicaion form and then informed me that they would schedule an appointment for me to get the EAD and send me a mail regarding that.

This is different from what happened when I renewed my EAD last year. That time EAD was issued the same day.

Has anyone else experienced the same? Or did they issue interim EAD immediately.

Please respond. I have just 10 more days for the expiry of my present EAD.

Any Suggestion/advice?

Thanks
Chichu

If your employer won't check it, just wait for your new cards and forgot about the 10 days left on your current EAD.

My experience and my in-depth study of Immigration law ( I followed the law code clues left on my various INS letters including denial, intent to denial, dismissal, found, printed and studies them) told me that EAD is only a token to show someone you have work permit but by default you can work with or without EAD. The bottom line is that INS only track if you work illegally till the date of your I-485 filing (as long as the same one is still pending).

7yrGC,

Thanks for your reply.

Another issue that I might face if I do not get the EAD renewed on time is my driver's license renewal. Anyway I would walk in again if I do not get the notification from LOCAL office by next week.

Thanks

You mentioned Jersey City,NJ in one of your postings for driver license issue. You also have a posting titled like" Baltimore interview...".

I wonder where and when you got your I-485 interview? In Newark, NJ or Baltimore, MD?

DMV will send you a notice for renewing your driver license when your current one is approaching date of expiration. When you receive it, you can use the information in the letter (such as an assigned number) and renew it online. This way nobody check your EAD (whether expired or not). I believe only initial driver license applicants need to appear in person with total 6 points of documents brought along with them to show they are eligible for it. This is not your case.

Hi 7yrGC,

I received a suspension notice just like any other immigrant. I did not receive a renewal notice. And I could not find any option for online renewal on their web site. I checked it just now. Probably they would have taken out that option. Or if you know, could you please let me know the URL.

Thanks
