Interim AP during AOS Pending

Folks,
I am in a situation where I am planning to go to India. I have applied for second EAD and did not apply for my second AP. Last week I went and got my interim EAD. Can i apply for interim AP in the local office without having a pending renewal application for AP.

there is nothing like interim AP. you can only get emmergency AP.

Unlike Interim EAD's, emergency AP's are not routine. One has to prove extreme need to go abroad in order to get an emergency AP.
