Don\'t worry. Quite a few people have got this. Basically if INS can not find a proof of your visa status during some period of stay, then they just send an intent to deny. It just means that if you do not produce something to satisfy their doubt, they will deny your 485. But normally, most of the people have sufficient evidence to show that they were never out of status. This is just one reason used often to send intent to deny notice. There may be others. But if you have all documents like all your visa approval notices, pay stubs, tax returns, SSN, passport etc., you can normally show them you never tried to cheat. If you have switched between F1 and H visas, then probably that has generated some doubts with INS. Wait for the notice and come here and ask question. Another place you can ask questions is www.isn.org (go to discussion section using the link in the top).
