insufficient payment for the fingerprint fee

Hi,

Has anyone received a USCIS online status message similar to the following:

We have determined that there was an insufficient payment for the fingerprint fee for your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status. On July 8, 2005 we sent you a notice of this, with an opportunity to submit the fee. Your case is being held in suspense until we receive your fingerprint fee.

The original reason was when my attorney filed my I-485, they forgot to sign the fingerprint check. But after they received the above USCIS notice, they fixed the issue and sent the signed check back to CSC USCIS on July 15.

But, as of today 8/2, the insufficient payment message remains.

How often does USCIS update the online status?

I would appreciate it if someone can share his/her similar situation experience and the way he/she handles it.

Thanks

I got into the similar situation and USCIS status is showing me the same message as yours (insufficient payment for the fingerprint fee .... On August 5, 2005 we sent you a notice of this….), but in my case all the cheques were cleared and also I confirmed that the amount is right ($70).

So far my attorney did not receive the letter and he told me to wait till he receives it. Can you please share your experience in this regard.

Thanks in advance.

Until today 8/15, the USCIS online system still displays the insufficient fingerprint payment message for my case. My attorney told me they have received the USCIS check receipt notice indicating the check was cashed on 7/25. I was told the online system is probably not reliable, hopefully that's the case. I have been thinking calling USCIS, but haven't done so because many people say it's basically useless to call them, we will just get the same answer as the online system.

Thank you very much for the response. Today my attorney got the letters to pay fingerprinting fees, he suggested that we send them the cheques again along with the previously cashed cheques. Lets see what happens :) .
