Instant Plastic Cards....Is this true?

Hi guys,

I heard from someone that for cases approved on or after Oct 26, 2004 plastic cards are given on the spot at INS office.... Is this true??? Your feedbacks are greatly appreciated

Unless they print the cards in advance, this is rather unlikely. They have an outside contractor who prints them at a considerable premium (~$30).

I have no intension of spreading false hopes or rumors. As I mentioned in my first post I just heard from someone about "instant plastic cards" something like "Interiem EAD" which means they will have that kind of machine in their building itself. Please don't jump to conclusion :rolleyes:

I was just trying to tease you. hey it is a public forum you are welcome to post anything you like. sometime these unusal news are helpfull too.

He may have a valid point there. Since i cannot seek an appointment thru infopass, this may seem a viable option. The bad part is i have to wait in line for several hours to get inside the INS building just like "the others"
 
you know it might be true as they are in the process of ruling out I-551 stamp and then i am going to local office for an interview and they have not asked me for new photos(forward facing). the photos i gave earlier were like 3 years old.
 
Yes, I did hear something like this some time back, one of my senior in the company came to know abt this from his attorny, there was/is a proposal to do so,

I think it is must to go for stamping before they can order your Card as card will have finger print of your index finger which is taken by them when you go for stamping, there was something going on about a temp card till you get you physical card but later same person found out that Plastic card backlog is reduced and these days it takes 3 weeks or so to get the card after stamping.

Wouldn't it be goo for them to come up with something lilke

It was correct at one point since USCIS was delibrating on phasing out I-551 stamp. But now they have postponed this so no instant plastic as of yet
