INS is opening mails from mid-May for I485 related RFE

According to my attorney this is the response thay have received for RFE

it\'s still in the mailroom.Currently, they are still opening mail from May 18, 2001. Mail is also logged based on the type of application. For I-485 applications, they are still in mid-May.

Of course - none of that is really authoritative - and is probably misleading too. I know that my RFE reply, which was sent on 6/4 was updated to the AVM on 8/17 (which probably means that the mail was opened just prior to that date) - but on this board itself, there have been several people who have reported that RFE replies sent in the middle of June have heard their cases updated on AVM in early August.

I do not believe that the FIFO rule applies for mail opening - it is more likely that the process works the same way as all 485 processing - there are some 98/99 cases being processed simultaneous with 2001 cases - there is no method in INS\' madness.
