Hi Folks,

does any one know, what are INS GC quota numbers for this yr?

Is it finished or still remaining?. Even if quota gets over,
in October it should get renewed again

Wish all of 485_applicants best of luck including me

I hope you are not implying that people who have already applied for 485 after procuring a Visa number have to wait for another quota to become available before being approved.

The quota for (applying for) 485 itself is current (available) as you may already know.

good luck...

I think

Neeru, I think what he means is that INS gives out a fixed # of green cards per year. ( I think it is 150K or something ), which are further split into country level visa limits. And according to AC-21, these unused limits can be re-used between countries.

However, from what I have heard, thanks to the slow speed of INS, they never even finish the first level quota, not because there weren't any applications left, but because they can't process fast enough.

I don't think that would be a problem esp. that october is around.

Re: Quota

If Quota is over for this year, I guess the priority dates will retrogress. I dont think INS finished this year's quota. I would like to repeat what Silly Man said, THEY are not fast enough.

Good luck to everyone.

I guess not

If qouta is FY 2002 is over we should not see approvals from any INS service center, Quota is not specific to a service center.

But this month we are seeing approvals from other service centers on Rupnet.

May be CSC is not concentrating on 485 instead on some clean up or other task(who knows) or may they are relaxing on beach.

God only knows.

I did call IIO on Friday Sep 6th 2002, got the usual std reply

"We are processing Sept 2001 cases now, so call back after 3 months(my ND is Dec 13th) I asked her specifically if my case was assigned or any pending issues, each time got the same answer like a m/c"

AC-21 talks about Visa numbers; The Visa numbers are available (current) only because AC-21 laws already took effect (roll over the unused limits from previous years and make available unused quotas of various countries to all). We had a jump of more than an year for EB-2 and more than 3 years for EB-3 about 1.5 years back. We should see the dates retrogress if the quotas are full again, but in the current economic scenario (and INS pace) it is very unlikely. You will know even then if your case will be considered or not depending on whether your PD is bfore the Visa-number-date or not.

My guess is that the the INS officer does the following two checks (among countless others)
1. Was the application mailed when the quota was available (yes = ok, no = reject)
2. Is the quota available today (yes = adjudicate, no = put back on the shelf)

as of today, the answer to (2) is yes for every one.

good luck to all...
