INS audit at the company

Got to know that INS is auditing our company. Is this a normal practice...Does INS regularly audit all companies?

I just had the finger-prints taken couple of days ago. I am currently on unpaid leave. Will I be in trouble?

Hmmm,

I\'ve never heard of it before, but I was walking through
my company and found that an IRS person was permanently there
overseeing organization.

This is a very small company

Bongo,

This is a small company of about 10 consultants. So,definitely there isnt someone in the company permanently.

You must be thinking that INS is doing this auditing since they do not have some on-site staff there.

I kind of feel that since it is a small consulting company, INS wants to make sure that company is following the regulations.

I S,

Here is my 2 cents worth.

As far as I know INS won\'t audit each and every company. Based on information INS has, INS may choose a perticular company to audit. I know in the past copule of companies which were audited by INS and the trigger was some one reported some problem(s) with the compnay. Let\'s say there is a body shopping company not paying employees on bench who are on H1 and some one looses their patience and reports it to INS along with some other possible problems/voilations etc. may trigger an INS audit. These audits may or may not cause some problems to employees.

PCee, thanks for your thoughts

That helps.

Company has asked me to send an email saying that I volunteered for unpaid vacation (which is in fact true for my case - I do not want to get paid for next few days so as to save the remaining pay-stubs for the approval time). I can now put your thoughts and the company\'s request together.
