Being there done that
Believe me, when I was going through my 485 approval, I used to regard the stories of 2 and 3 year adjustment of status as old wives tales. I used to see with envy the people who started the process 3 or 4 months before of me, who were getting approvals in as little as 3 or 4 months in CSC.
I have a co-worker who got in 485 just 4 months or so after me, and is still stuck waiting for approval, I've had my GC for more than a year already. I just squeezed through the closing gate. It is amazing how the backlog on AOS went from big, to small to big again. I went on Christmas time to a trip abroad, and one of the things I did on the Internet cafe is checking if the freeze for 485 was over. I really feel bad for the people who are stuck. My take is if one qualifies for a GC at the time of applying this person should get the GC no matter what happens one or two years down the road with employer or any other issue. AOS should be an expedited process and should consider the facts at the time of the application. This would not give INS or BCIS any excuses for delaying in hopes of denying the AOS. As it happens with the law, justice delayed is justice denied, in our case would be AOS delayed could mean AOS denied, and I don't feel it's fair.
Still irrationally hoping that Tom's Ridge beautiful rhetoric about a golden door, or was it a golden gate or bridge, is backed by action and performance. These AOS delays are starting to smell like attempts to control the job market on a downturn.
My 2 cents.
