Inquiring I485 status

Hi all experts -

My I485 case has been pending for about 120 days and I haven't gotten any update or the FP appointment letter. I have asked the lawyers (my company paid) to make an inquiry. They are against making an inquiry. Should I inquire myself? I thought CIS is obligated to send you an update within 90 days. All I have is the receipt notice.

How do you make an inquiry? Is it just by calling the 1800 number? It seems that the reps there do not know anything more than what the online status shows. Is there another type of inquiry? My case is filed with CSC.

Thanks.

dont expect your lawyer to enquire

Even though 120 days is too early to send an inquiry but if you want to send an inquiry send it to CSC-XII.485@dhs.gov and they had been prompt of late.
Lawyers only follow the process and your case is just one more in the list.

Thank you. This is especially true when the company paid for the fees and the lawyers don't feel obligated to the applicants themselves.

How many days should one wait for it be appropriate? I don't want to upset them by sending a request too early or ruin my chance of sending the next request.

Also, could you tell me if any letters (e.g. the fingerprint letter), RFEs, or notices from the CSC on my I485 will be sent to me or the lawyers. My I-485 receipt notice doesn't even have my address. It only has my name c/o the law firm's address. I got the copy from the lawyers.

How can I initiate an inquiry with NSC?

Regarding your last question, yes, the service center sends the receipt and RFE to your lawyer (not you) without your address on it (exactly as you described in your post, i.e. having only a c/o). The fingerprint notices are, however, sent to both your lawyer as well as yourself; as leat it's true in my case. So, at least don't worry about this.

I do feel that 120 days is too early if you didn't file your 485 concurrently. This process needs a lot of patience and 120-day-waiting is really nothing. Nothing! I read somewhere on this board that someone called the national service center (1-800 number) a couple of times to inquire and the lady got impatient and put a note on his record and told him that he shouldn't call anymore. Don't know how accurate this information is... On the hand, if CSC's 485 processing date has already passed your priority date, then by all means contact them and see what's happening with your case.

Good luck!

Hi ---

Is CSC-XII.485@dhs.gov only for I485 cases? I also need to inquire about my I131 case. I concurrently filed my I765 and I131 two weeks ago and got the receipt notice for I765 three days after. I still haven't received the receipt notice on I131, but I do see a LUD dated 10/7. Is there a way to inquire about I131 cases? Or I131 cases are generally easy and not worth inquiring?

The current CSC processing date for I485 (5/31/2005) is very close to when my I485 was filed but I still haven't gotten the FP notice yet. I am from a country affected by retrogression. I saw LUDs on 10/3 and 10/4 but the online status message did not change, nor did I receive anything in the mail yet. At this point, should I inquire about my case?

Thanks!
