If you are a male, between the age of 18 to 26 years old, (in any status other than as a lawful nonimmigrant), you are REQUIRED to register with the Selective Service. This is necessary especially for those who wish to apply for the US Citizenship.
To do so please read the following on how to register:
If you were born after December 31, 1959, please call the Selective Service at (847)688-6888.
For those born before that date, call (703) 605-4047.
Once you have registered, a number will be issued to you, of which you will need to provide on your N-400 application. You can also register at the post office.
