infopass - when and how?

I know the answer probably is when your case is out of the published processing time frame. My fingerprint done about two months ago, and the case is still at VSC (DO =NYC). I become anxious in this guessing + waiting game. If I request an infopass now, will it have any negative impact to my case? Does it do any good? and how to open an infopass?

I personally think it's way too early to expect your interview letter especially when your finger printing were done about couple of months back. I would wait another couple of more months & then do an info pass apptt. If you still want to inquire, there is no negative impact on your file or case. It's just a routine inquiry that you like to do & I don't see anything wrong with that.
