About two weeks ago, I had a feeling that March 10th would come and go with no word from USCIS (Turns out I was right!
). So I scheduled an infopass for the 11th, today.
My wife's 485 is currently pending in the San Antonio District Office.
When it was our turn to speak with an immigration officer, I explained that our 485 was filed in April 2006. Our interview was approved in August 2006, and we were simply waiting for the FBI name check to clear in order to receive her green card. After looking up the case in her computer, she stated the usual answer "Oh, your case is currently pending security clearences. Once these are cleared your case will be approved."
Knowing that a recent policy change had occured, and not wanting to waste a full hour's drive (I live in Austin), I said "Well, I have read about a recent policy chan..." and before I could finish my sentence the officer said "The policy change has not been implemented in our office yet." She then explained that they have prepared and separated all the files that fit the 180 day description, but they have not yet received a "Go". But once they do, they will begin immediately to print cards/mail out notices/etc.
My wife and I were satisfied. At least San Antonio acknowledges that they have separated the files that can be approved. But we are annoyed that this new policy isn't being implemented nationwide, I wonder where San Antonio falls on the list.
So, I wanted to share this story with anyone that may have their case pending in the San Antonio District office. Sounds like they are ready to do a lot of approvals, they just haven't been authorized to do so.
Good luck to everyone!
