I have been waiting with no change in my file status for a long time. I have just made an appointment to go and see an immigration officer to ask about my case and why it is not getting processed within their indicated timelines. Does anyone think this is a bad idea? Also should i take any documents with me such as my W2s, pay stubs, ....

Interesting thought. I haven't seen many posts about this. I suspect this is probably a good idea; but that's my opinion. If you do go through with this, please post your experience in this forum. I think the success or failure of your endeavor will determine others to follow or not -

Good Luck

It is not bad idea however I guess it will be useless. You will get answer like every case is different and ...., so do not hope too much.

Share something here, I did enquiry on my 1st EAD (still pending since 11/2002 on their web). Once you made enquiry you will be locked for 30 days (can not make more enquiry within 30 days), I did 3 times which total count about 100 some days. On the 4th one, thye say since you have done 3 times, you can not do any more you need to fax you enquiry in written. I was given a number and did fax and I have never receive any update. I ends up with 2 iEADs and filed another new EAD and got approved.

Update

Ok. I did go to the SJC CSC office. My appointment was for 9:45, and I was on time. An officer called my number at 10:30. After looking at my I-485 document and proving I am Bay area resident (Driver's license) she told me that my file was sent to FBI for security check. This is almost a year after finger printing. She said this takes somewhere between 3 to 9 months. In short it was useful to go there as they were able to tell me more than the on-line status LUD does and where the hold-up was.

The strange thing is that in the afternoon I received an email that my file has been transfered to the SJC office for them to schedule an interview, and that interview process will take few months to schedule.
After asking my lawyer, I was told that this practice seems to be the norm for those that were born in the 7 countries that require special registration.

Does anyone know how long the typical wait is for scheduling an interview in SJC office? This is quite important as I have limited time in my current employment (8 weeks).

Thanks, and I hope my update helps those in the same situation as me.
