indian Hypocrisy

Hi

My husband is a Indian citizen born in Kashmir, working in the states. Holding a Indian passport.
When he applied for a renewal of his Indian passport he was only given a 2month passport, when he asked the Indian consulate why he was given only 2 months he was given no valid reason, but he over heard the clerk in the office say he is a Kashmir., when he asked why he is not being given 10 years he was told that he is born in Kashmir,

How could it be that every Indian citizen is given a 10 year passport and he only be given 2 months, it clearly states in the application documents that a passport should be renewed at least 6 to 12 months before the old expires so when would my husband renew his passport.

What happens when he wants to apply for a visa for another country or extend his H1 they all require the passport to be valid 6 months or more.

What is a Indian citizen?

The last time I checked most consulates are welcoming their own citizens if they are in any kind of trouble or doubt ,for any kind of help or advice when their citizen is in a foreign country.

What happens when a Indian is in need of his own consulate? They don’t even give their own citizen a valid passport or treat them with respect.

I my self a British citizen wanting to visit my laws, applied for a visa but was point blank refused on no valid reason after many words I was only given 1year visa, when it clearly states on the Indian consulate website that If I am married to a Indian citizen I am straight away eligible for a person of Indian origin card which is valid for 15 years. I feel the only reason for the Indian consulate to refuse my visa requests was because I am married to a Kashmir. When I see the leading political party in India is led by a Italian born lady married to a Indian, the chef minister of Kashmir is also married to a British lady who is living in Kashmir..

Does this not clearly show discrimination against Kashmir’s??

There must be a mistake on your part.My friend's father was born in what is now Pakistan and i had gone with him for his passport renewal less than a year ago. They give him a 10 year passport without any problems.
It doesnt make sense for giving a 2 month passport unless the 2 month passport is a temporary passport and the application for the 10 year passport has been forwarded to the MHA in India for processing.
But you should contact the Consul-General of the embassy where you applied and/or the Ambassador of India to your country for both the passport and PIO card incidents.

there is no mistake in this i only wanted to renew my passport ,i already had a vaild passport which was to expire soon which was a 10 year passport.i am trying to contract the right people for help and answers.

Write a letter to the head of the consulate and mark copies to Governor and Chief Minister of Kashimir and the Indian embassy in the US. People are usually scared if the letters are copied to other major agencies. You should get a prompt repsonse when they see that the issue is now going beyond the consulate.

Ask a local new paper to write up your story. Use names of the consulate that issued you that passport in bold letters.

If nothing works, talk to a lawyer.

If you are right and have the right papers you should get a 10 year passport

I agree with Simpson, But i dought if CM will have time to see ur email. But u can give it a try.. also now i bleave one of my Kashmiri friend who had the same problem, they extended his passport for one year, where all my other non Kashmiri friends including me they extended for 10 years.. there is a discrimination for Kashmiri, and govt of india will never win Kashmiri if they keep having the same attitude for Kashmiri... i wish ur husband good luck and here is my advice if u are british y dont u get him British passport... I am Indian but still say that.. i appologise on behalf of my country but not all Indians are like that...

My brother was born in Kashmir and he lives in Delhi. Whe nhe renewed his passport it was done only for a year. We are not Kashmiris or anything, it is just that my dad was posted there when he was born. They told him that he has to undergo extra scrutiny of documents since they have to verify everything before granting 10 year passport.

So is it you applying for a renewal or is it your husband. I am confused.

Also people born in Kashmir or in certain sensitive areas require approval form the Ministry of home affairs.
My cousin who was born and raised in Srinagar always had this problem since the last 10 years . He was a KASHMIRI but not a Moslem if that is going to be next point.

Apparently a passport is a acceptance of the fact that you are an Indian citizen.
I am not saying it is you , but somebody could use your passport to coinduct nefarios activities.
If you are true Indian you should accept this and hope that your case is solved soon.
Atleast they gave you a temporary passport.
