Updated 03/22/01: Indian/China Priority Dates Soon-To-Be Current
www.immigration-law.com
AILA reports that according to Charles Oppenheim of the State Department, Indian and Chinese employment-based
second preference priority dates may become current in the near future, possibly as early as May or June. The
Chinese/Indian EB-3 priority dates are expected to advance at a somewhat slower rate, averaging probably five months or
more advancement per month for China and about four months advancement per month for India. Reportedly, Mr.
Oppenheim also indicated that there is good reason to believe that EB-3 numbers for all nationalities will become current
in the first quarter of the next fiscal year (which begins in October). Caveat: Unsual high demand for visa numbers for
whatever reasons can affect this DOS prediction. Before getting too excited, people should closely follow the movement
for the next few months on this web site!
