IDRF and RSS

Folks,

Please be aware that the IDRF is a part of the RSS and act accordingly. Donations solicited at this meeting will go to funding RSS and hate-related activities in India

Thanks

What you believe about IDRF is up to you. You can visit their site and try to reconsider if you wish.

The meeting under discussion is non political and meant to have immigrants communicate with lawyers face to face. Atleast they are doing something tangible for the community.

Neeru:

I do not know how you can assert this meeting is non-political. I, for one, refuse to believe the canard that the RSS and its front organizations are social organizations. I would rather the community be left to look after itself than fall prey to the tangible service that the RSS provides.

The RSS and the IDRF have stopped denying that they are indeed linked together. Please see the two items below:

":As quoted in the July 22, 2002, issue of Outlook magazine, Dr. Vinod Prakash, President of IDRF, told Outlook reporter Ashish Sen that “The IDRF has given absolutely no money to the RSS.” This was followed quite immediately by Nagraj Patil, an IDRF VP who categorically stated on Sulekha that “There is no relation between VHP/RSS and IDRF. Fullpoint.” Thirteen weeks after the release of the ‘A Foreign Exchange of Hate (FxH)’ report and the start of the Campaign to Stop Funding Hate, IDRF’s supporters are reduced to saying that there is no “legal” link between IDRF and RSS. We agree. It would be impossible to have a legal link with the RSS since the RSS is not a legal entity: No registration under the law of any country. No membership rolls, and no publicly audited financial statements:"

":The Campaign to Stop Funding Hate (CSFH) thanks the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) for its statement of February 27th, 2004 clarifying that the India Development and Relief Fund (IDRF) is indeed a “Hindu organization”, closely related to the Sangh Parivar. That has been our claim all along. In contrast to the current RSS statement, the IDRF continues to mislead the public by claiming to be a secular, broad based organization funding “development” and “relief” programs in India. It is nothing more than a US fundraising front for RSS groups in India:"

Folks, please reconsider visiting these people. What brings us to this forum is not our religious identity but our status as potential immigrants. Please do not fall prey to Yankee Hindutva.

Thanks

Please produce links. Also, there has been much discussion about this on the net and in several campaigns. There is so much mis-information out there that quotes wont cut it.

I say it is non-political because, What are they going to do at the meeting? Profess militant hinduism or answer legal questions?

Here you go!

Thanks, Neeru. Please see very detailed evidence presented in the enclosed 91-page, 147-footnoted report (most of which are gleaned from the documents of the IDRF and the Sangh), which clearly illustrates the links and activities of the IDRF.

==========================

Mahatma Gandhi, when told that the RSS had done some excellent relief work in the wake of the 1946 communal riots, answered, "But don't forget, even so had Hitler's Nazis and the Fascists under Mussolini."

just search google for 'hate IDRF' and you will find for and against arguments. Try the report at

http://www.letindiadevelop.org/thereport/

I wouldnt be paranoid about it, just as I am not paranoid about the BJP (which according to the Sabrang report is an RSS entity just as much villaneous as IDRF).

It is pointless to start an argument about this topic on an immigration related board, and this is my last post on the matter. But folks, do not be misled by claims and couter claims, for both have questionable motives.

Go to the meeting to see the attorneys and oh yeah, Sunnyvale temple frequently serves free dinners, especially on the weekends (if you dig deep enough, there would be a nasty reason for this too)

The http://www.letindiadevelop.org site was established two years back to counter the "alligation" and do a counter attack against the campaign for Stop Funding Hate (http://www.stopfundinghate.org). IDRF a loosely connected orgainization of RSS and some other hindu organizations like HSS. I don't want to get into all the politics and their activities in this forum.

My believe is that this is one of their PR campaigns to be connect with NRI hindu people. As this is immigration related program, I think fair game for "kadamtal" to post this program information, (provided it's is purely related to immigration - to help NRI people and it has nothing to do with IDRF fundraising or hindu politics). On the other other hand, I think it's fair game for "am2220" to mention their affiliation with RSS/HSS and question their intend - as IDRF indeed has a "past" and it no longer denies the relation with RSS/HSS.
Now, knowing both sides, it's upto the people to attend that program in openminded manner and decide themselves.
