Incorrect stamping on I-94.

Hi,
I hold a H1B Visa and my wife is on a H4 visa. My wife and I entered US through Boston from India in May 2002. At the airport the INS official stamped our passport and I-94 forms. I just realized that the INS official at the airport has wrongly stamped (wrote by pen rather) H4 on my I-94 and H1B on my wife’s I-94. Everything else is correct (Passport stamp, Expiration date, visa etc). I want to know whether this would affect my I-485 processing. If yes what should I do to rectify this? I would greatly appreciate a response in this regard.
Thanks,
Srini

I am not sure about the part whether you will have any problem when you go for stamping. But you can certainly change those I-94's. you will have to file form I-102 Replacement of I-94 at your respective service center . INS charges a fee of $100, but they will waive the fee if it is a mistake by the INS officer(which is in your case).. It generally takes around 30 days to get your new I-94's ... Good Luck.

Thanks a lot

I will be filing I-485 pretty soon. Since we have to submit I-94 copies for that, I thought we would run into problems. Your information is great. I appreciate it.
Thanks,
Srini
