In-laws wanted to leave early on AP

My in-laws wanted to leave early on AP without waiting for green card approval. I understand they can travel on AP but my questions are:

1. Does it impact their green card process?
2. What would happen in their absence, USCIS asked them to appear for green card interview?
3. Can we ask for other interview date and for how long this extension can be requested?

Please clarify.

1. No impact, provided they applied for the AP when they were still in the US, and did not leave the US before it was approved.

2. They need to return for the interview, or risk having a long delay or being denied.

3. A reschedule can be requested, but requests for any specific date or time frame will be ignored. USCIS will set another date when they feel like it. Rescheduling the interview is a high risk move, as it often results in delays of several months or the green card being denied for failing to show up at the interview.
