Important question about PD being current

I have been reading a lot of postings and a question keeps on bothering me.
Here is the scenario.
What if:
You wait all this time patiently... and finally.....
Your PD becomes current..(my understanding of this is that there is a visa available for you)
You file your necessary papers..
They reach USCIS on time..
And now the wait is on...
And then suddenly...
After a month or so your PD is not current anymore..
Does that mean that at that point you're screwed?????

Unfortunately yes. A PD must be current to file 485, then it must be current again when the case can be approved. It is sort of like the stock market, both luck and timing are important.

Wait on for what ? Approval .

You should be Rest of World category to think of approvals in less than 6-8 months of filing 485.

If you have filed 485, name check, Fingerprint kickoff even though your PD is not current so feel happy about that.

PD will keep fluctuating back and forth but for final approval you do need PD to be current.
