Hi

I recently got Canadian PR Landing Papers. Meanwhile my application for adjustment of status is also pending with the INS in the US. I am presently working in the US with Employment Authorization (EAD) and has Advance Parole to travel to and from US.

Will there be any problem for me to land in Canada? Can my Canadian PR be denied, beacuse I have a pending application for US Green Card?

Will I have any problems in obtaining US green card, if I land in Canada and obtain the Canadian PR?

Any experiences and responses is appreciated...
Thanks

Just landed and came came back using AP yesterday

I am on the same boat as you. EAD and AP, I-485 filed. My canadian landing papers were expiring on March 17th. Flew to Seattle on March 7th. Arrived at Seattle at 11.00pm. My sister and brother-in-law , who are canadian PR\'s came to Seattle to receive me. They drove me to Douglas (near vancouver) at 2.00am on friday morning. Immigration officer was so polite. I had just one suit-case with me. She asked me where are my other stuff. I told her that they are in NJ, and I will be getting them only after I find a home. She did\'nt question more on this. She asked me whether I have a car to follow later. I said yes. She asked me how much money I am bringing in. I said USD 9000. She asked me a couple of normal questions like am I carrying any firearms / have I been convicted ,etc. And that was it. She asked us to sign in our landing papers and she filled up the rest. Then we went to customs officer. Had a 6 paged goods to follow list. She stamped it and gave it back and that was it.

We went and applied for SIN on friday in vancouver. It is a beautiful city. My brother-in-law showed us around vancouver for the rest of friday and saturday. We left vancouver at 7.00pm by car to seattle. We reached the USA port at pacific highway at 8.00pm. The officer at the port of entry asked us enter the office to get the AP stamped. We went in. He asked us why do you need Parole. I told him that I am pending AOS and I am getting back to work. He asked me to fill up I 94 and stamped "Paroled until Nov 6th 2002" and also stamped all the copies of parole papers.....

Hoping for I485 to get approved this year..Let us see.

(This should NOT be treated as an immigration advice and I am not an attorney . This is just experience specific to my case and different cases might go different way)

congrats !! on the successful landing.

SO douglas seems to be pretty cool for landing !
From my own experiance and also now from yours...seattle to BC is
the way to go !
thanks for posting the AP experiance as well.

yes, the first time I used a rental..

next time I was told by my lawyer that I could not drive a US rental , so I never again drove to canada, used the bus/air/crossed on foot.

you maybe ok i f you take a one way rental.

If I drive my own car (US Plates)

When I get my Permanent Res. can I drive my own car (US Plates) and then come back to the US to finish any preparations to send my shipment?
Should I register my car as part of my belongings, register it in Canada, and switch back to the US plates to come back?

Thanks.

Money to bring in Canada

I have a question. When I landed to Vancouver couple years ago (by air), at that time the immigration officer asked me how much I brought in and I said $500 cash (I forgot to tell him I also had a $10000 cashiner check). So he only wrote down $500 on the landing paper and I signed it. At that time he did not question me why I only brought $500 cash. Does anyone know in this case I may have a trouble when I apply citizenship later?

Documents needed for landing ??

Hi, Can someone please tell me a quick list of documents I will need to carry with me when I go to land, specially the financial docs ? Or maybe just a link to a checklist. I haven\'t got my landing papers yet, would those have a list included ?

Thanks in advance,

-Deep
