Implications for working with a US company

Hope someone can give me a bit of guidance.
I am just back from Canada finalising all my PR details last week and will be returning in April next year.
Currently I work for a British company who would like me to work for them in Canada where they have no representation. However I am not clear how I stand for receiving my salary and the tax implications.
I have a few options at the moment one of which is going self employed and invoicing my current employer. This I am not to keen on.
I am not sure if a) it is possible and b) the tax implications, but my prefered thoughts would to collect my salary from our US Division.
Does anyone know if a US company can pay a salary into a Canadian Bank Account (either in CAD or USD) and are their any tax or social security issues I should consider.
