A friend has been a permanent resident for 1.5 years. He was laid off a year ago and still not got a job. SO he has been unemployed for a year. Do you think this might cause a problem in the GC status or later application for citizenship?

Thanks for the reply. Is it OK if he takes short trips in and out of the country? He is self-employed with his own so-called company, will that help in the publich charge determination?
