Earlier when we went for medical, we were expecting our first child and hence could not complete the MMR. Now again we are expecting our second child and what happens if there is an RFE?
Has anybody been in this situation. Please advice. Thanks.

WOW that was very first!!! back to back babies (Just Kidding :-)) Congratulations!!!

I guess you will have to wait until your wife delivers your second baby and make sure she fine with doctor to take immunization.

how many times are you expecting immunization and for what? what was it during the first pregnancy for? if it is ok please elaborate.

I was pregnant during my 485 filing, couldnt take MMR. I got a RFE recently asking only TB test( no mention of MMR) but I took the vaccines too( just to be safe and avoid further RFEs). Anyway, I found that there is a medical test that can find if you are already immune. Its a blood test. Search some old threads. Its discussed before. If your wife is immune, she need not take the vaccine. Also my RFE clearly says that I need to take the TB test if I am not pregnant at this time( didnt specify what to do if I am pregnant though ). Also check th form 693 instructions. It clearly says that you can take exemption if you are a parent of a US citizen etc. You may want to ask your lawyer or call your INS certified doctor to find a solution.I am sure the INS doctors must have aseena case like yours before.

You folks seem to be making the best use of USCIS waiting times !!!
Heh heh :D

Good Know Max2k1, instead of breaking heads and getting tensed about this wretched process, they changed tracks relaxed, enjoyed and at the end the fruit of the hardwork is there to see. :-)

We should learn from them to get on with life.

As long as the Doctor writes that your wife is pregnant and can't take MMR, it is acceptable to USCIS. So don't worry. Generally the Doctor won't give MMR if a person is pregnant or breast feeding and writes so on the medical report. It's a common practice for I485 applicants.

By the way, congratulations !

Unforunatly your wife's medical report will be treated incomplete. Sometime, INS will ask for the lady to take the MMR after delivery then approval the case. Sometime, INS will just go ahead appvove it. Don't think too much. Enjoy your second pregency. Even there is a delay on the approval, it is very worth to get a healthy baby.

I would suggest for people who are in your boat and are exepecting RFE, to go ahead and take a vaccination (if not currentlt pregnant) as soon as they are done with nursing etc., and not wait until RFE. So that when RFE comes and the lady in question is again pregnant, you donot have to worry. And Vaccinations are valid for lifetime.

You may never get RFE and may be approved. We have similar experience. Got approved without RFE. We can not change life events because of backlog. Good luck!
