Immigration Reform

Today, March 27, the Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote on
immigration reform, including much of the provisions of Kennedy / McCain.

Unfortunately, Senator Bill Frist (R-TN), Senate Majority Leader, has
still introduced his own bill - a bill that does not contain a path to
legal residence and citizenship for the undocumented, and does help
reunite families. It only deals with border enforcement.

WE CAN NOT LET THIS GO FORWARD.
Action Alert: Call Frist's Washington and Tennessee offices (D.C.
202-224-3344 | Nashville, TN 615-352-9411) and say:

* I OPPOSE Senator Frist's decision to bypass the Judiciary
Committee and put his own bill on the Senate floor!
* I SUPPORT a comprehensive and humane solution to our broken
immigration system. REAL REFORM includes a path to citizenship for the
undocumented population, family reunification, and a new worker
program that provides strong worker protections
* I SUPPORT giving the Judiciary Committee as much time as they
need to complete their work on this critical issue.

Others you can call today:

The bill that they really need to pass is any asylee who has a green card can actually return back to COP..

N0, i did not file a false asylum application.. the issue is INS gives a green card to asylee after say on an average 5 years of waiting which means the status has changed to Legal Permanent residency.. Now all LPR can travel to any country they want including Home Country but for asylee's it raise an eyebrow and they might revoke green card or even deny citizenship..

It's a myth that Green Card Holders based on asylum cannot go back to visit home country. TortFeasor posted a well reasoned opinion on this subject - you can find the thread on this forum.

My laywer also told me that I could visit my home country. She did tell me however one should be cautious visiting home country before receiving green card.

I don't think that even Senate knows what these changes are about.
