Folks

1.Can someone explain to me whether we(legal immigrants) have any substantial benefit in the currently being debated immigration reforms?
If so what is it?

2.What is the timeline we are looking at to have these become law? thinking realistically(and knowing that this has been such a hot topic)..

3.If it becomes a law, what will be its direct impact for Indians/desis? Will EB3 and EB2 retrogression just go away(like that it's gone) ? or cutoff dates will move significantly?

Please provide any insights that you have regarding this. I initially thoought the reform is only for illegals, then heard it has benefits for legals too, but now I am totally confused
Guys, plz help...

cheers-

Hi

It seems to me that all Bush wants to do is introduce the Guest worker program

I am sick and tired of hearing him go on and on about it. All this will mean is that Uncle Sam will get more tax dollars

The immigration system is already broken and will collapse if the immigration staff are directed to document these illegals

I cannot see it helping any of us only infact hindering our wait times

I agree. It will only delay our process. Imagine .. 13 millions (and rising) illigal immigrants, to document them, it will take away more and more immigration workers who are currently handling existing cases, results = more delays.

All bush cares about politics. Support from spanish. It's like these illigal immigrants are being rewarded for being illigal, while we legal folks get punished. We pay more tax than the low paying illigal immigrants, but they don't seem to get it.

It's a screwed-up system.

I am seriously thinking about becoming illegal and then becoming legal. 12 million illegals should rise to 24 million illegals in this way.

Problem is, you'll have to provide proof of citizenship to one of those latin americans. Or you'll have to land in the US illigally.
