Immigration of baby born to US permanent residents in a foreign country

My wife and I are permanent residents and I am soon to become US citizen. If we choose to have our baby born in India, what happens to baby's immigration to US later? Are there any complications? Can the baby come to US right after being born in India? I suppose the baby will have to get a Indian passport and some sort of American visa to enter US.

why would u want to do that?? If u are applying for citizenship and so is ur wife.. why are you wanting to make ur child go thru a painful INS process??

its better if ur child is born in the US

Sachin is corrrect. Also, why would you want to take the risk of the baby being born in India? I trust the hospitals here better. If you don't have insurance, I would still bite the bullet and pay for the delivery here rather than get my wife cut up coz out of all the people I know back home, most of them had to get a C-Section. .

I agree with dvpatel and sachin. Why would you want to go through the INS nonsense? Give birth to a US citizen and get it done with.

I should add that from my personal experience, the American health care system is not all that better compared to Indian assuming you are upper-middle class in India. American doctors are greedy pill pushers. If you have the money, you can get world class service in India with the doctor coming home to your bedside. Not to mention personalized care in your own language. In America they will deliver your baby and ask you to leave in 48 hrs. And they are bloody rude as hell. Even a receptionist in a hospital doesnt talk properly here; so cant expect too much from the doctors.

Anyway. Thats my 2c.
