This might end up being a long post, I just want to be sure to give the full details so that you may be able to help.
My husband entered the country illegally in 1996 from Mexico. At the time he was only a teenager.
I met him in 1999 - We had our first child in 2000.
With the laws that were passing we got married and filed our papers I-130
We received the I-130 approval notice (april 2001)
We got stuck there though(on the I-130), so for $2500 we hired a immigration attorney.
They are telling us that we need a co sponsor - and that my husband will need to go to ciudad juarez once they set an appointment and that he will have to stay there for up to 1 year. Going to mexico for up to 1 year sounds bogus!
Our I-130 approval has a priority date of May 1st (which was 1 day after the cut off)
Both my grandparents agreed to co sponsor my husband and they were just finishing up the paper work when my grandpa got sick and died in december, and then in january my grandma died from surgery. So of course now they are not co sponsors.
Everytime I call my attorneys office and ask to speak with the attorney they put me in touch with the legal assistant, and I feel like we are being given the run around. We are not sure what to do, or where to go for help.
We have been married since 2001 - we have 2 daughters, and it would tear them apart to have him leave the country for up to 1 year....
What do you suggest we do?
