I have always wondered why there is no such day as immigration day (like labor day , memorial day , thanksgiving etc). everyone on that day should remember their ancestor who came to this country as an immigrant and struggled to give their children a better life.
is it something Americans want to forget and don't want to associate any glory to the fact that all of them started just like us (may be worse than us). Is the present situation of INS and their apathy towards immigrants is a reflection of the shame they bear.
I hope celebrating such a day will remind these people where they came from and possibly where they are going. (if this objective can't be achieved at least they will get another chance of shopping at 50% discount and some more mindless activity)
