I'm Canadian, marrying an American, quick question

Hello all,
I've read alot of the posts & FAQ's but didn't find my situation, so here goes.

I'm Canadian, living & working in the US with a TN. My fiance & I are planning to get married in September of this year.
I know I need to file the I485, I864, I693.

Here's the question:
We plan to travel to Canada about a month after the wedding, to have a "reception" for my side of the family since the actual cerimony is in the US & most can't travel that far.

If we get married, then the US gov' is likely to say my main reason for re-entering the US is for a green card, correct? So there's the I-131 form to file so I can leave, while filing all the other paperwork.
BUT
it seems that the amount of time it takes to get the I-131 form processed will be too long from the time of the wedding to the time we want to tavel to Canada.

Is it OK for me to come back on my TN, or is that "nulled" because we got married & I will be planning to get a GC?

I'm so confused....

Any help is appreciated!
Thanks

-- Your TN does NOT get nulled once you get married. Therefore you can safely return to the US after getting married on your TN status.

Do NOT disclose that you are married to the US citizen. You have to answer every question that is asked to you truthfully, but you are under no obligation to volunteer the information that is not asked by the USCIS/border agents.

Therefore, to avoid this marriage related question, I would strongly suggest you and your wife to travel separately back to the US after getting married.

Thanks bigboy00, I appreciate it.

On that note, is there a time limit that you must apply in?

Can I simply wait until after the reception, then apply for the green card?

Time limit to apply for what?

If you are talking about applying for the green card, you can start the process immediately after returning to the US. Your USC spouse has to start the process by sponsoring you.
