IIO says "No attorney on my case" - Heard of this ?

INS Nightmare

Though I filed for my 485 , I also have a pending h1b extension...
I spent more than 2 1/2 hrs and spoke to calif IIO.
She looked at my case and said I dont have attorney on
my behalf. What does that mean ?
Is it something normal ?
and she was not willing to discuss the issue with me.
Asked my company to call.
My attorney is a lousy guy who does not want to spend time re-dialing.

You have to sign a form at the time of application saying so and so lawyer is representing you. Did you sign such a form?

I don\'t think you need a att for 485. I don\'t need sign form if you do youself. Unlike 140, you take responsity for 485. IIO is wrong not talking to you.

I think, your attorney, might have forgot to submit the \'G-28 Notice of appearance as Attorney\' form. You can have your company call, and then include your attorney\'s name and address for your H-1B. H-1B information will not be revealed to you. It will be revealed only to your company. But for I-485 , even if your G-28 is missing, you will be notified of any information on the case , by an IIO. Here also, you can include your attorney at a later stage.

No, its just that they do not discuss the case with the Beneficiary. Try asking your HR-Manager to call.
Attny would have been the best one. My attny has the same issue. What I do is that I call the INS myself (I mean try for a few hours) and once I get the phone I then I put my attny on conference call and just sit silent. Ask your attny if this is OK with him.
