IIO confirmed/cleared confusion on the impact of I-140 approval for CP vs.. AOS

I did speak to an IIO today at 3.00 PM and this is what I got from her:
She confirmed that they have my I-140 file(My I-140 was for AOS). She also confirmed that if I-140 is approved for CP, but I-485 is filed instead, it sometimes causes delay as INS waits for the I-140 to come back from NVC. Moreover INS will only ask for that file once they start working on your I-485 file. I hope this helps clearing our understanding on some of the delays.

How much delay?

Did she say how much delay? My I-140 was approved for CP and NVC told me that delay could be as much as 2 months. Not sure delay was there in my case or not but my case was approved on 20th Sep. ND is 11/08/2000. My lawyer told me that INS requests for file as soon as I485 is filed not when case is taken by an officer.

Shouldn\'t be a problem

In my case, they had sent my I-140 to the NVC, and also had my name spelt incorrectly. Upon the advice of an IIO, I sent VSC photocopy of my I-140 and asked them to adjust accordingly. My GC got approved in record time.
