If one is found guilty and the judge sentenced him to
"time served", ", how is one year rule applied
to determine deportability?

@ AmericanWannaBe:

Could you please stop asking questions what would happen to Green Card holders if they commit a crime?

You know exactly that new immigrants are always nervous and questions like the one you have raised scare people a lot.

A person who has got his driver's licence doesn't want to think about what would happen if he kills a young student with his car. But if you keep asking similar questions, you make him crazy.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

AmericanWannaBe is the one who think about worst, How about start thinking doing some good deeds after GC? ;). Will those expediate/help anyway. :)

You know I other day I visited this forum after recent GC approval. I read all this stories and list of crimes and all.. all my enthu watered down. Really.. unless some one is really in trouble.. please STOP SCARING PEOPLE.

Haven't we suffered enough waiting?!!! How about some positive thought fo GOd's sake?!

You know what? It is better to be scared by hypothetical scenario than
reality. Have you seen many posts like "My friend (read I ) beat his wife
and was arrested. would that be a problem at the time of natualization?"

Do you also realize how many posts here are about PRs
commiting DUIs? If these people had given a damn about
such things in advance, they would not be in trouble later.

I disagree, Commiting any kind crime is bad enough in itself. "It might cause trouble at naturalization" is not a good enough excuse. Just creating hypothetical scenario is cause scare nothing else to peaceloving members.
Good message is "stay away from crimes/violation of laws all the time in life" not just for citizenship."
So please stop thinking about hypothetical scenarios, appreciated.

americanwannabe's questions are interesting and thought-provoking, even when they are hypothetical. this forum is meant to discuss "life after the green card", and that is exactly what the questions pertain to. there is no requirement for a participant to have actually experienced some pain before they can talk about it. americanwannabe, keep 'em coming.
