Hello,

I will be applying for I-485 probably next week, but my H1 expires on Oct 4, 2000 ie just 2 months.

What happens if I dont get EAD within the H1 period, should I have to go out of payroll from the company??, if so what about my insurance.

Or should I continue to work?.

Pls. help

You might want to try going to your local INS office and get an EAD. Of course you might need to shell out an extra $100.00.

Sorry, I didn\'t make a note that you hadn\'t applied for your I-485 yet. You can get an EAD only if you apply for I-485. I guess what I am trying to say is that once you apply for your I-485 and a have receipt from VSC you can take the receipt to the local INS and apply for an EAD. This is usually much quicker than getting an EAD from VSC which takes a long time. Of course only some local offices do this - examples of offices which let you get EADs with your I-485 receipts are Pittsburgh and Boston. There are other offices which don\'t, like Arlington, Virginia.
