If I-140 approved, is going for first time H1 B stamping is risky?

My I 1-40 is approved and I-485 is pending. I had to travel to India, and so wanted to go for the H1 stamping. I applied for AP but it is still pending:(


I came on J1, and now have an approved H1B, but NO stamp on the passport.

This will be my first visit to US consulate in Chennai, India, since I got my J1 while I was in Japan.

Does any body have experience of getting the H1 approval with the above kind of situation?
