If GC is lost / stolen while traveling

Hi everyone

what should be done if someone's GC is lost or stolen while traveling outside the country. Can she or he come back to US?. IS
there a chance to get the GC again from local consulate or BCIS ? How long will it take ?

Anybody any idea ???

I saw your post about getting the GC from the us dept of state. After that only I wanted to start this tread as this could be of some use so that people can know the prceedure.
